Under-Desk Cable Tray

Cable trays are one of the highest-value things to print for a desk — the mess under a standing desk is a genuine problem because the cables move every time the desk does. A rigid tray that carries the power strip and bricks solves it permanently.

Fits: Any desk with a screwable underside

What actually matters

  • Use PETG rather than PLA. Power bricks sit at 40–50 °C for hours and a PLA tray will slowly sag around them.
  • Keep the ventilation slots. A sealed tray traps heat around the bricks and shortens their life.
  • Print two shorter trays rather than one long one if your bed is small — they butt together and it is easier to route cables between them.

Questions

Can I mount it without screwing into the desk?

Only with a clamp version, which is a different part. Adhesive alone does not survive the weight of a power strip over time.

How long can I make it?

As long as your bed allows. Beyond about 300 mm add a centre support or the floor bows under a heavy brick.

Need it in a different size, or with more slots?
