Gridfinity Drawer Insert
Gridfinity works because everything shares one grid, so bins from any source drop into any baseplate. The hard part is the baseplate itself: drawers are rarely a clean multiple of 42 mm, so you end up with a gap that lets the whole grid slide around.

What actually matters
- Print one single-unit bin first and check it drops into your baseplate without force. If it is tight, your printer is over-extruding slightly — adjust flow rather than scaling the model, or the grid stops being compatible with everyone else's.
- Measure your drawer and size the baseplate to whole 42 mm units, then fill the leftover gap with a plain spacer. A stretched baseplate breaks compatibility.
- Bins print faster in batches, but leave space between them — a blob on the stacking lip is what stops a bin seating flat.
Questions
Is this compatible with bins I downloaded elsewhere?
Yes, as long as the 42 mm grid and 7 mm height units are kept exactly. That is the entire point of the standard, so do not scale the model to fit a drawer.
How deep should my bins be?
Height units of 7 mm. Six units (42 mm) suits most hand tools and hardware; three units (21 mm) is right for screws and small parts.
