What actually matters

Size each slot to a specific remote. Equal slots mean you still have to look to find the right one.
Leave the remotes standing proud by about 40 mm so you can grab them without tipping the caddy.
Felt pads underneath if it lives on a wooden table.

Can I mount it to the sofa arm?

That is a different part — a clamp version. Generate that instead of adapting this one.

How do I fit a very long remote?

Deepen the slot when you generate. Anything over about 200 mm needs a deeper caddy to stay stable.
