Heavy Duty Wall Hook

Wall hooks are among the most printed parts there are, and among the most commonly printed wrong. Orientation decides everything: the same hook can hold five kilos or snap under one, depending purely on which way it was printed.

Fits: Coats, bags, tools, cables

What actually matters

  • Print back-plate-down, always. The load then runs across the layers instead of trying to peel them apart. This single choice is the difference between a 5 kg hook and a 1 kg one.
  • Two screws, never one. A single screw lets the hook rotate under load.
  • More perimeters beat more infill for a hook. The strength lives in the walls.

Questions

How much can it actually hold?

Around 5 kg in PETG printed back-plate-down with five perimeters, mounted into something solid. Printed on its side, expect a fraction of that.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

PETG handles humidity fine. Avoid PLA anywhere permanently damp.

Need it in a different size, or with more slots?
